Turn Around

Turn around.
Watch trees bear fruit
Where you used to hide,
See grass set seed
Where you used to wait,
Be all that lifts you, skylark high,
Not broken, as you were of late.

'Fragmented' is a series of four experimental relief pieces, made from air-hardening clay with additional media elements, each exploring different levels of fragmentation, both physical and metaphorical.

Developed over a period of a few months, each piece began its process in a simple plaster press mould that I'd previously made for the purpose. I really enjoy this immediate way of working, as it allows for an agile metamorphosis of ideas, without the constraints of planning and design processes.

As with much of my work, poetry is never far away. It grows with the work and often manifests itself during the quiet, contemplative moments of a process.
