Walk the Walk
Pattern - Rhythm - Order - Routine

2024 Air-hardening clay, acrylic paint, tissue paper and ink on medium density fibreboard
'Walk the Walk' touches on neurodivergence, and my preoccupation with patterns, rhythms, order, sequences and routines. The piece represents my daily walk 'around the block' for exercise. The walk, which lasts fifteen minutes, is split into eight distinct sections, marked by changes in direction.
The foot as a motif, is seen elsewhere in my work, and serves as a metaphor for making progress, or conversely, holding back. The feet, in this instance, make their way through the eight sections that are representative of my walk. Each foot is numbered, with the corresponding word for each number, appearing alongside, whilst alternating between English, and Brazilian Portuguese.
In October 2024, 'Walk the Walk' took part in 2024Beat, an international project created by Ashford Visual Artists, UK, in collaboration with Artly Mix in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The project culminated in exhibitions at The Kaleidoscope Gallery, Sevenoaks, UK, and Echos Studio, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
